# How many tiles do I need for a bathroom? A table by room size

A 2 × 2.5 m bathroom (6.6 × 8.2 ft), 2.4 m high, with one door, has 20.09 m² of wall, tiled to the ceiling, and needs 22.1 m² of tile with 10% extra for cuts: 23 boxes of 1 m² (23 m²), with 0.9 m² left over. Tiled up to 1.2 m instead, the wall is 9.89 m² and needs 11 boxes of 1 m² (11 m²). The box size and the allowance are generic example figures, not a product’s: use the square metres per box printed on your tiles.

The square metres in a box differ from one tile to the next, so the box count changes with the tiles you choose. The wall area does not: add the 10% for cuts, divide by the square metres printed on your box and round up, or use the [tile calculator](https://buildbatch.co.uk/tile-calculator/).

## What the table assumes

Each bathroom is a rectangle 2.4 m high, with one door 0.762 m × 1.981 m.

- 1 door taken off the wall area; nothing is taken off the ceiling or the floor.
- Every quantity is rounded once, at the end, up to whole packs. Working uses unrounded figures.
- Wall tiles use generic example figures, not the figures of any product. Enter the figures from the tin or pack for a closer answer.
- 1 m² per box (generic example)
- 10% allowance (generic example)
