How we compare products

This page says how BuildBatch compares products and what each label means, so that every comparison page can be held to it. It was written on 29 September 2026.

Four kinds of page

The four kinds of page: what each word means, and what the page must show
Kind of page What it means What the page must show
Worked out Figures from the maker's own published pages, put through BuildBatch's calculators. It is not a test. Which figures were used, where they were read, and on what date.
Tested Someone bought the products and measured them. Who did it, what was tested, how and when, with the results. Today no page is tested.
Ad A link that may earn BuildBatch money. The word “Ad” beside the link, before you tap it. Today there is no such link.
Worked example BuildBatch's own arithmetic on round, made-up figures, to show how a calculation works. It uses no maker's figure and no real price. That the figures are made up, said beside each one.

Each word is used only in this sense. On a comparison page or a worked example, “worked out”, “worked example”, “tested” and “Ad” mean what the table says and nothing else. Anywhere else on the site they are ordinary English: “everything is worked out in your browser” is not a label.

What a comparison never does

How a page is made

This page is itself a draft for the owner's review.

Today nothing on BuildBatch earns money: how BuildBatch is paid says what may be added later, and how estimates work says how the calculators reach their numbers.
