What BuildBatch is

BuildBatch turns the measurements you type in for one room into a buying list for paint, wallpaper, tiles, flooring, skirting or a mix of them, in the tin, roll, box, length and pack sizes you can buy. It is free to use and no account is needed. Nothing you type leaves your browser. By using the site you accept these terms.

An estimate is arithmetic, not advice

Every result is arithmetic on the figures you provide: your measurements, the coverage from your tin or pack, the allowance you set and any prices you enter. The working is shown beside every figure so that you can check it.

An estimate is not a survey of your room, a specification for the work, or professional advice. BuildBatch cannot see the surface, the subfloor or the condition of anything. Where a quantity depends on those, it says “check first” and what decides it, rather than inventing a number. Nothing on this site is advice about structural, electrical, gas or other regulated work; for that, ask somebody qualified.

Check before you buy

Check every quantity against the product's own instructions and coverage figures, and with your merchant, before you buy. The starting figures for coats, coverage, wastage and pack size are examples, and they are labelled as examples; the figures on your tin or pack replace them.

A price in a batch is one you typed, or one recorded against a reviewed product with the date it was checked. It is not a quote, and prices change.

Responsibility for what you buy

You decide what to buy and what work to do. BuildBatch is not responsible for the cost of anything bought, or not bought, on the strength of an estimate, or for work done on the basis of one, beyond what the law requires. Nothing in these terms takes away a right you have by law that cannot be taken away by agreement.

The site is a free tool that is still being improved, and it is provided as it is. We aim to keep it available and correct, but we cannot promise that it will always be available or free of mistakes. If you find a mistake, please report a problem.

Saved projects live in your browser

A project or a room refresh batch you save is stored in the browser you are using and nowhere else. We do not hold a copy and cannot recover it. It does not follow you to another device, and it can be lost if the browser's data is cleared, the browser is reset or the device is replaced.

The projects page can export everything to a file, and that file is yours to keep. Privacy says exactly what is stored.

Acceptable use

Use the site for what it is for: estimating jobs, your own or somebody else's. Do not misuse it. In particular, do not attempt to break it, overload it, interfere with other people's use of it, or get into any part of it that is not offered to you.

Copying a buying list or a merchant enquiry for a job is exactly what those buttons are for.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change as the site changes. Any change appears on this page, and a change that affects how you use the site will be noted here before it takes effect. If you keep using the site after a change, the new terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. This does not take away any protection you have under the law where you live.
